When going to a wedding, it's typically customary to bring some sort of gift. Usually the happy couple will register at a useful store, with a list of the things they want or need, and guests from the wedding can purchase them. Usually these places stores, like The Bay, Campers Village, Bed Bath and Beyond, Home Outfitters and Sears to name a few, all with the intentions of buying the bride and groom that lovely crystal bowl which they can serve out of in their new home. However, times are changing, and with that, it's time to get inventive.
In today's society, many couples are already living together prior to them getting married. Their cupboards are already full of glasses and plates, and their homes full of knick-knacks and furniture. So what can you buy the couple, without giving them a duplicate of something they already have? Maybe buy them an experience - a hot-air balloon ride around the city for example, or maybe even a date-night on the town to bask in their newly wedded bliss? Perhaps a piece of art that "reminds you of their love"? Think outside the box. Originality is key.
However, if you're the bride and groom getting married, maybe it's time to switch things up. Many couples nowadays are setting up a basket at their reception, and instead of asking for gifts from their guests, are instead asking for a donation to a honeymoon fund. This way, people can spend however much they want, and it will cut down on the couple's costs of going on their dream honeymoon.
