With spring coming to an end in the next few days, the summer of love is coming up in a big way. No one seems to be able to escape the love bug.
The king of romcom's and the man best known for running down a beach bare-chested in his off time is officially off the market. On June 9th, Matthew McConaughey and his longtime girlfriend Camila Alves tied the knot at their home in Austin, Texas, surrounded by 120 of their closest family and friends, which included Reese Witherspoon, Kenny Chesney, and Woody Harrelson. Their kids Levi, 4, and Vida, 2 ½, served as the ring bearer and flower girl for their intimate ceremony, which was said to have taken on a spiritual element.
Unlike celebrity weddings of the past, the McConaughey-Alves wedding was unique in that it didn't conform to massive events of the past that other stars may have had. Instead of getting married in a Marchesa or Vera Wang gown, the bride looked to a 78-year old family friend to help design, and create, her custom beaded and lace wedding gown. As well, their wedding was best described as a three-day 'glamping' extravaganza. Described as 'glam-camping', the couple set up 47 luxury air-conditioned tents on their Austin estate, where the guests spent three days and two nights enjoying the hot summer fun, which included beanbag toss and horseshow games. For their reception, it was hosted outside to a selection of rotisserie-style Brazilian meats (acknowledging Alves heritage). Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple offered their guests a selection of sweet treats. They also decided to forego a traditional "first dance", instead deciding to incorporate all their guests into the fold by dancing into the wee hours of the morning to a live band.
Another star that got hitched is Think Like a Man star Meagan Good. This past Saturday she married to Columbia Pictures VP (and preacher) DeVon Franklin in Malibu, California. Getting married at the Triunfo Creek Winery, the couple hosted a Spanish and bayou-themed wedding for their 400 guests, which included Tracey Edmonds, Derek Luke, and Deion Sanders.
After meeting just over 6 years ago while discussing a film project, they went on their first date just after they finished working together on a movie called Jumping the Broom. And this last weekend, she walked down the aisle in a custom made R-Mine gown with a purple dipped train, wearing Jason the Jeweler diamonds. Describing her dress as "rebellious and out of the ordinary", she felt it was perfect for her, and it tied in with the purple roses, tulips, and rustic gold accents found throughout the wedding.
