General FAQs:

WILL HAIR EXTENSIONS DAMAGE MY HAIR? There are many different methods of applying hair extensions in today's market. I am familiar with all of them and choose to use only the keratin wax and/or weaving methods. In my opinion they are the safest and best ways to achieve beautiful results.

I do believe that other methods can be applied without damage but not all technicians are well trained. The room for error with some of the methods is great, and I recommend thoroughly researching any method you choose.

HOW MUCH DO HAIR EXTENSIONS COST? The cost ranges from $250-$1500 depending on the length and style desired. The longer the extension, the more money you should expect to spend. The more layered and complex the hairstyle, the more extensions and expense is necessary. Thickening starts at $250. Lengthening starts at $500.

WHAT ARE KERATIN TIPPED EXTENSIONS? A small section of hair is attached to your natural hair with a Keratin wax compound. Depending on the thickness of your hair and the look you wish to achieve, each application is customized to your preference.

WHAT IS A WEAVE METHOD OF EXTENSIONS? This is a method of attaching a "weft" of hair to tracks on your head. The 'tracks' are usually cornrows, braided in the direction of how the hair will fall. Toward the face or away, with or without a part, the tracks build the foundation of how the end result will look. The wefts are then sewn onto the braids, usually with a specially made, blunt-ended needle. The color of the thread used to attach the weft is customized to your hair color.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES OF PUTTING IN HAIR EXTENSIONS? There are many techniques used to apply Hair Extensions. I use the keratin tipped technique as well as a weave method.

HOW LONG DO HAIR EXTENSIONS LAST? Keratin tipped extensions last for a minimum of 6 weeks. Clients come in for fills approximately 3 weeks after their first appointment and schedule accordingly thereafter. If cared for and filled regularly, extensions become a part of your lifestyle and can be worn indefinitely. I personally had hair extensions for over 10 years.

WHAT IS A KERATIN WAX FILL AND HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO HAVE IT DONE? A fill is the process of adding more extensions and removing any that may have slipped or broken down. It is done approximately every 3 to 4 weeks depending on the season. A fill is generally inexpensive and last 1 to 1.5 hours.

WHAT TYPE OF HAIR DO YOU USE? There are different types of hair to choose from. Each client is unique and their needs naturally vary. I supply Fashion Source brand hair to all my clients. It is well known throughout the hair industry as a quality product. It is also the only product that I truly believe in and have worn for many years.
