Bridal Fantasy - Bridal Show & Magazine

The Wedding Gown

The wedding gown is the one article of clothing all women dreamed about since they were little girls. Looking through magazines, attending Bridal Fantasy and other bridal shows and window shopping can help you become familiar with the latest styles and fabrics.

Bridal Fantasy

90% of the time, your dream wedding dress is the one you'll purchase because when you finally put it on it will make you smile confirming that it truly was the one. To protect yourself and your dream it is wise to shop with reputable businesses. We all have heard horror stories of brides that go to pick up their bridal gown days before the wedding only to find it missing or that it has suddenly become a size 4 from the original size 8. Check with friends that were happy with the service they received.

As the bride it goes without saying that finding an utterly fabulous yet appropriate wedding dress is the ultimate pre-event challenge. Classic calls for luxuriously stylish wedding dresses enhanced with glamorous accessories, while an evening soiree demands a super striking gown and gleaming jewellery. Then there’s the destination wedding and the beach…the perfect opportunity for simplicity and elegance. There has been a distinct shift in styles of the wedding gown. The individuality and uniqueness of each bride is now considered when selecting a gown. The runways are showcasing this elegant trend towards a simple and more elegant style. Bridal shops are carrying sophisticated, narrower silhouettes and off-shoulder dresses reflect a more romantic style. Intricate trim and detailing make each gown unique.

Bridal Debut - Two Locations, Tons of Gorgeous Gowns

If you’re looking for a wedding dress, don’t forget to stop by Bridal Debut. They’ve been helping brides find their perfect gown for 14 years. They have a great selection of gowns in a wide range of sizes. Plus, they’re not just in Sherwood Park anymore - Bridal Debut’s has opened a second store in South Edmonton.

The South Edmonton location provides the same friendly, no pressure service that Bridal Debut is known for in a smaller, boutique like atmosphere.

The new location caters to brides only (no bridesmaid gowns). They carry designers including Maggie Sottero, Allure, La Sposa, Jai and Alfred Sung. There is also a full time seamstress on staff. It offers a wide range of shoes, headpieces, veils and a large selection of jewellery.

When asked about the Southside location in comparison to the Sherwood Park location, Manager Amy Maier says that even though it is a smaller store, the selection is impressive with a focus on the bride who wants something a little different. “We try to bring in things that are different and trendy but at the same time upholding our standard of impeccable quality and great fit. We also have a wide range of classic styles and gowns to fit every bride’s budget.”

This location offers gowns in sample sizes from 6-28 with styles to suit every body type and a good selection of plus size gowns.

The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and are more than willing to assist brides who don’t know where to start, “We don’t expect brides to know what they want when they walk in the door, it’s our job to help them figure that out and we try to make the entire experience from start to finish as stress free and fun as possible, selecting a wedding gown for your big day should be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.” says Maier.

When shopping for a gown at Bridal Debut you are encouraged to take photos and bring people with you to share in the experience but Bridal Debut South recommends you try and limit your group to 2 or 3 as the store is smaller and can get a little crowded especially on Saturdays when the store is it’s busiest. If you have a large group just give them a heads up and they will make every effort to accommodate.

Brides who purchase a gown at either Bridal Debut location receive 10% off all accessories and bridesmaid dresses and the discount is valid at both stores.

Watch for Bridal Debut’s new website (coming soon) and the annual birthday blowout sale at the Sherwood Park location Sunday, July 11th.

Malene Grotrian Does Marvels To Vintage Wedding Dresses

“Something Old, Something New,
Something Borrowed, Something Blue,
and a Silver Sixpence in Her Shoe.”

The quote above is familiar, and full of history. Britain’s silver sixpence was in circulation from 1551 to 1967. The tradition of incorporating these elements into the bride’s wedding dress and accessories likely became popular during the Victorian era (Approx. 1837-1900).

Inspired by this wedding ritual, Malene Grotrian Design helps brides to restore their mother’s or grandmothers wedding dress and turn it into a modern couture wedding for the new bride-to-be. Each vintage dress is altered to each bride’s exact desires to create the wedding dress they’ve always dreamed of. Malene has brought a fresh and new approach to a beautiful tradition.

Not only are Malene Grotrian’s brides walking towards their groom wearing the gown of their dreams; they also have something that is both old and new - a wedding dress that is truly special. The beauty of Malene’s art is that the special memories of the past and present will carry on for another lifetime through each wedding.
