Wedding Insurance – The Most Overlooked Detail

Your wedding day – one of the most important days of your life. But most engaged couples don't think about getting wedding insurance, or don't even know it's a possibility. You have insurance on your car, your home, even your life so why not your wedding? With increasingly elaborate ceremonies there is more cash than ever on the line – and more potential for something to go wrong.

These days, wedding halls and reception venues often require you to obtain event insurance for your wedding day to separate themselves from any responsibility in case anything should go wrong or if someone should be hurt while attending your event. Even if your venue doesn't require insurance, it's still a good idea. You don't want to be left holding the bag on any costs for damages to the property or possible injuries. Wedding insurance is extremely popular with military families, who can insure their wedding against unforeseen overseas postings or a military leave being cut short.

If you've ever had a sleepless night, thinking about your wedding day and what could possibly go wrong, realize that it has probably already happened to someone. What would happen if your florist went out of business two weeks before your wedding or your bridal gown came in and was horribly damaged? Wedding insurance can cover those eventualities and relieve some of the stress of the replacement cost in these cases.

Talk to your insurance agent about wedding insurance, and just like with car insurance, it pays to shop around. Some insurance companies don't cover everything, while others even include a "cold feet" clause, just in case someone backs out at the last minute (which isn't going to happen to you). Things like sudden illnesses and damaged photos can happen to anyone, and you and your fiancé will sleep a lot better at night knowing that if something did go wrong, you are covered.
