Often the head table is reserved for the bride and groom and the rest of the bridal party. However, it does not have to be that way anymore. The great thing about weddings today is that we are straying further and further away from traditional weddings, meaning weddings are becoming more and more personalized.
Some brides and grooms prefer the head table to be just them. While this was once popular in the past, it is becoming more and more popular once again – at least on wedding décor blogs and websites. We love this idea! The day really is just about you two – feel free to sit up there just like the King and Queen you are on your wedding day! If you do not include your bridal party in your head table, we do suggest you seat them at the front and all together. They were chosen to be in your party for a reason, after all. They deserve a special place at your wedding reception as well!
Make your head table round. If you feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention (which many people do, even on their wedding day), feel free to make your head table round – that way it doesn’t feel like you are staring out at a crowd all night, with everyone staring back at you. Even if people are looking at you (which they will be, because it is your day), you won’t notice it, because you will be facing a bunch of people you have chosen to face – including your new spouse!
If you want to keep the traditional head table set up, that is perfectly fine! We suggest you create an awesome backdrop if you want to personalize it at all. Hanging letters, fairy lights, even custom made backdrops! The options are limitless. Check out Pinterest for some great backdrop ideas! (photo: greenvillabarn.com)
