There are so many bizarre wedding traditions, and we find it almost impossible to keep track! We thought we would like to line them all up for you, and maybe even give you some insight as to why these are traditions in the first place, if we can!
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue: Something old traditionally represents continuity, something new is to offer optimism for things to come, something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness, and something blue is representing purity, fidelity and love. It’s not necessary, but it sure is a cute tradition.
White gown: A symbolism of purity. However, it is now just become the colour because that is just how it has been done over the years. Many people are moving away from this tradition and choosing coloured gowns as well!
Gift openings: They are usually hosted by the mother of the bride. This can cause tension between the in-laws, because it can be a fight between the mothers as to who should host the event the next day. Do your best to try to mediate these differences!
Seeing the bride/groom before the wedding: Traditionally a big no-no! It was considered bad luck, and was believed to lead to an unsuccessful marriage. Thankfully, this trend has changed, and has led to some amazing “first look” photo moments!
Matching wedding bands: Naturally, this symbolizes unity and standing together (duh), but this trend is way out. While it is still adorable to match, it is not necessary! Feel free to ditch this tradition if you want!
These are just a few, and there are a ton more! Even some crazy ones, you’d never even think of it! What are some wedding traditions you absolutely love?
