'Til Death Do Us Part - Megs & Devin
Tell us about how and where you met:
We met on Tinder. We can both agree that we weren’t even really looking into getting into a relationship. Tinder is something I think most single people explore to occupy themselves. At the time we moved incredibly slow really taking the time to get to know each other and never actually met until about 3 months of chatting online.
When we met in person at WEM we were both extremely nervous and shy but by the end of the date we were doing car karaoke and stayed up pretty much all night hanging out. After our first date we’ve pretty much been inseparable ever since.
How long have you been together?
Just over 5 years! Going to be 6 in October this year.
How did you know it was the right time?
We faced a lot of obstacles in our relationship very early on and we were also put in situations where we had no choice but to trust and rely on each other and it brought us so close together that we created this crazy bond and we both just knew we were going to marry each other, besties for life. We are so different yet exactly the same. We finish each other’s sentences; he knows what I’m thinking and feeling vice versa.
Tell us about the proposal:
Well, we’ve always dreamt about creating a life together and building our dream home but of course, like getting married, these things take time. But after all the hard work and sacrifice we are finally in the middle of building our dream home. We used to drive by these crazy houses and dream about building our own it’s insane. Nevertheless, one fall day in October Devin took me to see our house in the framing stages like we do every day and Parker (my stepson) was with us as the sun was setting. Our soon to be home faces the North Saskatchewan River and has this crazy view and when I was looking away, he got down on one knee while Parker filmed it. The rest is history! It was thoughtful, simple, organic, and perfect.
What are you most excited for in your future together?
We are excited for everything! We are both growing businesses together and have plans to start new ones in the future. We are excited for Parker to get older so we can travel the world as a family. We’ve been working so hard on building a strong foundation and can’t wait to share the rest of our lives together.
